LV Club sold and closing soon

The Las Vegas Club, one of the city's oldest casino properties, has changed hands between downtown owners.  The 86-year-old sports-themed casino was sold by the Tamares Group, owners of the Plaza, to Derek and Greg Stevens, who own the D Las Vegas.

The Stevenses acquired the Fitzgerald in October 2011, invested $22 million in renovations and converted it to the D Las Vegas a year later.  They also own 60 percent of the Golden Gate, which is across Fremont Street from the Las Vegas Club

Plans are in place for the casino’s table games to close by Sunday night, and the full casino would cease operations by Wednesday, August 19th of 2015.  Las Vegas Club’s 410-room hotel has been closed for about two years.  There will be some demolition and renovation, but that will be several months down the line.  They did not purchase the casino name, so whatever eventually reopens at the corner of Main and Fremont streets will be called something else
