Harrah's St. Louis to become a Hollywood Casino

Caesars Entertainment Corp. Monday said it will sell its Harrah's St. Louis hotel and casino to regional rival Penn National Gaming for $610 million.  Penn National will re-brand Harrah's St. Louis with the company's Hollywood Casino brand.  The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2012.

Harrah's St. Louis is located in Maryland Heights, Missouri, directly off I-70 and adjacent to the Missouri River and approximately 22 miles northwest of downtown St. Louis, approximately eight miles west of Lambert St. Louis Airport, and approximately 25 miles southwest of Penn National's Argosy Casino Alton.

MGM Grand - Mayweather vs Cotto new issue casino chips

The MGM Grand in Las Vegas issued limited edition casino chips for the World Super Welterweight Championship between Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto on May 5th of 2012.  The same design was used on their $5, $25 and $100 denominatons.

New issue Golden Gate dancing dealer casino chips

The Golden Gate Casino in downtown Las Vegas has issued two more dancing dealer $5 casino chips.  Featured on this release is "Brennan" and "Dallas" of which they produced 2,000 of each.  This makes number 13 and 14 in the ongoing series.

Gambling at the Moulin Rouge, for one day

Gambling is expected to return to the site of the historic Moulin Rouge Casino.. at least for a day.

Rob Woodson, of United Coin, told members of the state Gaming Control Board on Wednesday that Moulin Rouge property owner Olympic Coast Investment was negotiating with an unnamed New York company to acquire the site at Bonanza Road between Martin Luther King Boulevard and H Street. Woodson said the deal is expected to close within four to eight months.

In the meantime, Woodson is seeking permission from state regulators to operate a temporary casino site in a tent on the property on June 19. In order to maintain the site for potential development of a gaming operation, city ordinances require that casino gambling occur there for at least eight hours every two years. United Coin is involved because one of its specialties is to set up temporary casino sites in tents to preserve gaming licenses.

Although the historic building is gone, the site’s unrestricted gaming license is valuable because it carries the grandfathered right to offer more than 15 slot machines without having a hotel on the property.

After hearing Woodson's request, Gaming Control Board members voted unanimously to recommend that it be approved by the Nevada Gaming Commission. The commission is expected to consider the request at its May 17 meeting.

Hard Rock new issue Cinco de Mayo 2012 chips

The Hard Rock Las Vegas will be issuing their Cinco de Mayo 2012 chips on May 4th of 2012.  They will be releasing 1,500 of the $5 chips and 500 of the $25 chips.  The same design is used on both denominations.
