Macau group plans casino in Philippines
Macau gambling company Melco Crown Entertainment is teaming up with the Philippines' richest man to develop a $1 billion casino resort in Manila in a sign of the industry's plans for rapid expansion in Asia.
Melco said that it would develop the project with three companies controlled by Philippine tycoon Henry Sy. Melco is jointly controlled by Lawrence Ho, who is the son of Macau casino king Stanley Ho, and James Packer, the son of late Australian media magnate Kerry Packer.
The Philippines' casino regulator has already issued a provisional gambling license to the group for the casino, which will be located in a middle-class suburb on Manila Bay. The Manila project would be the company's first outside Macau, the world's most lucrative gambling market, where it operates two casinos and is developing a third.

Efforts to bring legalized casinos to Arkansas
Supporters of two separate efforts to legalize casinos in Arkansas have turned in petitions seeking to place the proposals on the ballot in November.
Texas businessman Michael Wasserman submitted 4,544 pages of petitions that he said have 83,772 signatures from registered voters for his proposed constitutional amendment. The proposal needs 78,133 signatures to qualify for the ballot.
Wasserman's proposal would allow him to operate casinos in Boone, Crittenden, Garland, Jefferson, Miller, Pulaski and Sebastian counties. He turned in his petitions a minute before Friday's deadline. Election officials will conduct a rough count of the signatures and have up to 30 days to verify them.
Also Friday, professional poker player Nancy Todd submitted signatures for a proposal that would allow her to operate casinos in Crittenden, Franklin, Miller and Pulaski counties.

Sands $5 Las Vegas casino chip sold for $63.65
A Sands $5 Las Vegas casino chip sold for $63.65 on July 2nd of 2012
Note: This chip years ago was very scarce and fetched many hundreds of dollars at one time. Recently chips from several casinos have been unearthed from construction sites around Las Vegas. Instead of destroying them they were used as fill for concrete foundations. Some of these, including many from the Sands, were found. Most were embedded in concrete but it appears some might have been able to be salvaged and cleaned. Hence, the value of these chips has been steadily declining until we find out just how many were uncovered.
